Had the traditional tourtiere and ragout with apple pie as desert. MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! good - can't wait for le Nouvel An to listen to traditional Temps des fêtes music that only French Canadian can dish out.

Metcalfe Fair

October 3, 2008. Went to visit the Metcalfe Fair with Rhéal yesterday. I anticipated seeing a horse show but it was schedule to take place Saturday. However, we were amazed by a special race undertaken by children. There were 3 groups (3-5 yrs old; 6-8 yrs old and 10-11 yrs old). Their task was to follow instructions taking them to the final activity of picking up a live chicken and putting it into a large rectangular basket. What a feat. They commenced by turning around 3 times on the spot, then with their partner, rolling a tire about 10 feet ahead of them then climbing a tall stack of bales of hay up on one side then down the other side, after which they had to dig into a picnic cooler full of saw dust to find an egg of a certain colour assigned to their team and then the final exercise they had to capture a live chicken and deposit it into a large basket. These young competitors were especially vigorous in their quest. They were all winners.

Célébrer son anniversaire en mangeant un bon Michouï

1er octobre 2008. Michouï est un mot arabe qui signifit un repas de viandes grillées. C'est ce qu'on nous a servit à la ferme Constantin de St-Eustache, QP mercredi dernier le premier octobre. C'était une petite sortie que je me suis offerte pour célébrer mon anniversaire de naissance. J'étais en bonne compagnie et j'ai été surprise lorsqu'on ma présenter un gâteau d'anniversaire avec bougies et ça devant les quelques centaines convives présentes. Il y a pleut cet avant-midi et les pistes pour se rendre au verger étaient malheureusement trop boueuses pour que nos autobus puissent s'avanturer près sur les terres. Nous avons , tout de même, réussi à rapporter de très bonnes pommes Lobbo, Mcintosh, etc. Je m'offre le plaisir de donner ici et là quelques unes de ces pommes. C'est la saison. J'aurai bientôt des photos à afficher.

Received a chat message from Tamara today via SKYPE. After a few minutes we have Michel, Pierre and I speaking with Tamara and each other for about 2 hours. Now its time to drop those painting books back to the Ottawa Main Library. Then hooking up with Marie at the Crowne Plaza Hotel where she is for the weekend with hubby Dan. Can't miss the story of Coco Channel on TV tonight, enterpreted by none other than Shirley McLane
